Robert Snodgrass, an unlikely contributor to the forthcoming season?
To be honest I had forgotten we'd only loaned Snodgrass to Villa, now he is back in the fold.

Pellegrini has played him in both preseason fixtures to date, against Wycombe he showed all the failings of previous outings shying over when it seemed easier to score.

Does Robert stand a chance of making the cut in our much enlarged and improved squad or are we getting him fit to sell?

No, he’ll be gone.

Hard to see him competing with the newcomers, but he's getting a go in his normal position without the pressure of replacing Payet.

Another player in a very long list of when he played against us looked quality joined us and has since been crap

Missed a couple pretty easy chances yesterday. Would have thought a Championship team would have been all over him but maybe there is better value elsewhere.

Snodgrass is a close second place to the Bury Centre Half who we signed after knocking 10 past them IIRC ???

There's always a couple of players who feature preseason then vanish

We need a winger as back up to the new guys, so ideally we need to keep one of Snodgrass and Antonio... as we can probably get 20m for Antonio I reckon we will offload him and keep Snodgrass? Though Holland may also be an option.

Good Championship player.
One with a little bit of money ( West Brom or Stoke maybe) should take him

Deserves a chance to show what he can do in his preferred position. The way he was handled when he joined was ridiculous.

I would expect him to be off but if he does stay he could be cover for Anderson kr Yarmolenko.

Re: Robert Snodgrass, an unlikely contributor to the forthcoming season?
Problem with Snodders is his 60k a week wage. Championship clubs aren't going to break their wage structure just for the likes of him.

My guess is we'll be loaning him out again either to a low end PL side or a Championship club with us paying somewhere between 25%-50% of the salary depending on the club that takes him. Best we can hope for is a couple of mil loan fee like we got off Villa last year.

He's a Scottish international he must have some quality. Give him a chance, he was never going to replace Payet; who could after that first season!

"loaning him to a low end pre league team" are we already getting above our station ?

The little I saw of yesterday, he did look a little out of place in that front three.

And not just because he's not a tall blonde (fake or otherwise) Eastern European.

Hilts was a decent back up centre half for about 6 years. A million zillion miles from our worst signing. Funny story, though, to be sure.

Hilton was shit.
Along with Strodder and McKnight.

Some right dross signed back then.
